About this event
Registration is open for workers for the 2024 Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix presented by Lear.
Volunteering at the Detroit Grand Prix is an exhilarating experience! As a volunteer, you become an integral part of this high-octane event. Here are the roles for our SCCA Volunteers.
-
Flagging and Communications (F&C) play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and smooth operation of road racing events. Corner workers act as the nervous system of the racetrack. They monitor all aspects of the race to ensure everything proceeds as it should.
-
MERV first responders play a critical role in ensuring the safety and well-being of drivers on-course during the Detroit Grand Prix.
-
Pit Lane Fire Fighters - Just as the name implies, Pit Lane Fire Fighters ensure immediate response on Pit Lane throughout the weekend at the Detroit Grand Prix.
-
Support Team - The Detroit Region SCCA has over 130 Trackside volunteers who are not able to leave their post during the event. Our Support Team provides the delivery of needed equipment, food & drink, and other support services throughout the weekend.
Event requirements
Volunteering with the Detroit Region SCCA requires previous experience. We prefer volunteers with previous professional race work experience, previous SCCA Road Racing support experience or other professional experience relevant to supporting trackside activites at a road racing event.
An SCCA membership and license, or previous work history at the CDGPPL, is desired.
All volunteers are required to check in on Thursday, May 30, 2024 from 5-7pm during our welcome reception at Sindbads Restaurant in Detroit.
We are looking for volunteers to commit to serving for all 3 days of the Detroit Grand Prix. We understand that sometimes this is not possible. If you are not able to volunteer all 3 days. Please indicate as such in your registration. For F&C volunteers, please contact the F&C Chief for approval prior to registering. Our F & C chief can be reached via email at cindywisner@gmail.com
All volunteers will be screened prior to being accepted to participate in this event.
