About this event
The G.O.A.T.S. are getting restless. They want to take to the road and have a fun drive through southern Wisconsin. That must mean it's time for the Chicago Region SCCA's Get Out And Tour Series fall tour. This fall's backroads drive will take place Saturday, September 28. It starts at the Flying J Truck Stop in South Beloit, Ill., and ends in Monticello, Wis., at the Pink Heifer Saloon & Smokehouse, where we will get together and enjoy lunch.
If you’ve never been on a G.O.A.T.S. tour, they are non-competitive, fun drives on public roads with a navigator guiding the driver from printed instructions. This tour's 120-mile route will provide an enjoyable day of driving, complete with twists, turns, elevation changes and rural scenery.
The entry fee for members is $25; for non-members, it is $45, which includes an SCCA weekend membership. All cars must have a driver and a navigator. Navigators must have an SCCA membership, whether that is a full, weekend or trial membership. See details below.
Pre-event registration is required. The entry deadline is midnight Sunday, September 22.
About our destination: In 2020, Lauren and Yo Fox moved from Southern California to Monticello. They purchased the Monticello House, built in 1895 as a hotel and tavern, in June 2021. With help from their family, they completed a floor-to-ceiling, wall-to-wall renovation, creating the Pink Heifer Saloon & Smokehouse.
After lunch, if you're interested, the nearby town of New Glarus will be celebrating Oktoberfest that weekend. This event offers many spirited activities in downtown New Glarus, including live music, great food, local beer, wagon rides, chainsaw carving, plus plenty of family fun.
Check-in on September 28 will be at the Flying J Travel Center, 16049 Willowbrook Rd. South Beloit, IL. 61080 (the northwest corner of I-90 /39 and Illinois Rt. 75) by the Denny’s Restaurant. Check-in opens at 9:00 a.m., with the first car off promptly at 10:00 a.m.
Event requirements
Driver's License: All drivers must have a valid driver's license. Remember to bring it with you to check-in.
Insurance: Per SCCA requirements, each entrant must have an auto insurance policy covering the entered vehicle with liability limits as required by the state in which the vehicle is registered, and this insurance policy must be in force on the date of the event.
Navigator: All cars must have a driver and a navigator. All navigators must have an SCCA membership -- full, weekend or trial. If this is a non-member navigator's first time participating in a Chicago Region tour, they are eligible for a free trial membership. All you have to do is fill out a form at check-in, and you are good to go -- no charge. Trial memberships are offered by SCCA for one-time use. If a non-member navigator has used a trial membership at a previous SCCA event, they will be expected to purchase a weekend membership at check-in: $20, cash only.
Minors: Drivers and navigators who are under the age of 18 must have a Minor Annual Waiver on file with the SCCA National Office prior to participating in the tour. This applies to any driver or navigator under 18, whether they have a full SCCA membership or a weekend membership. Minors and their parents apply for the waiver electronically at scca.com. For detailed information on how to apply, contact the registrar.
